screen-shot-2017-01-01-at-12-56-34-pmFather Patrick Devine will speak on the importance of peace-building at the Embassy of Ireland in Washington DC on January 5th. Father Devine is the Founder and Executive Director of the Shalom Centre for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, as well as the recipient of the International Caring Award in recognition of his promotion of peace through conflict resolution and reconciliation. Previous awardees include the Dalai Lama, former US President Jimmy Carter, Mother Teresa and Senator George Mitchell.

Join Tuesday’s Children for a reception at the Irish Embassy highlighting Project COMMON BOND, a program which brings together young adults from around the world who share a common bond- the loss of a family member due to terrorism, violent extremism, or war. Since 2008, Project COMMON BOND has united more than 550 young adults from 25 countries for healing, community building, and peace-building.

Members of the Project COMMON BOND community have powerful points of view and are developing the skills necessary to shape their personal narratives of strength and resilience.  We invite you to convene with these extraordinary young adults and learn more about the importance of including young victims’ voices in the efforts to counter the dominant narrative of terrorism around the world. Fr. Patrick Devine, PhD will also speak on the importance of grassroots peacebuilding and his own experiences within the field of conflict resolution.
